My mom and dad always made sure that we had a pet or two in the house at any given time, so I was looking forward to one of my own when I moved into my first place. But as luck would have it, the only place that I could afford to rent doesn’t allow dogs or cats. It made me sad, but I needed to focus on living where my monthly costs were affordable. A visiting friend was reading colorful fish facts out loud to me from a site that she was reading online one night when she came over. I realized that even though I couldn’t have any pets with fur, I could mostly definitely have one of another type altogether!
I decided to visit a store that sells all sorts of animals with gills. I wondered if they were easy to take care of or if I needed a fancy setup and a lot of expertise instead. I talked to some really informed employees for quite some time. They said that I did not need to spend a lot of money to get started, but that I needed to make sure that I would put forth the effort to keep up with the weekly cleaning duties that would be necessary as well as proper feeding. The work did not sound anywhere near as close as to what is needed for cats and dogs, so it sounded like a good idea to me.
I also spent some time to learn about illnesses and other things that can occur, and how to get through a variety of different things. I ended up picking out some angel fish. I got little babies that were adorable. I was told which size tank I should get so that they can grow to a much bigger size without being too cramped. I also got some pink rocks, food and some medicine. It has been a lot of fun and interesting!
