I Really Began to Worry After Chronic Pain Started in My Knee

I was told for many years that I should not sit with my leg underneath me every day at work. I would often forget and do it anyway. This is how I found myself in the office of a Santa Barbara chiropractor several times over the past month. I did try going to a doctor a couple of times first, but all he did was tell me that there is nothing he could do for me outside of trying to control the pain or go through scary surgery. Neither of those things was what I was looking for, and it was disappointing. I wanted to get to the root of the problem.

I have had a bad habit of tucking one of my legs underneath me for a long time. I had many people tell me that I should not do that. I am not even sure when it started. When I sat down in my desk chair, I would simply bend my leg at the knee and pull my calf and ankle up underneath me. I did that for a long time without any trouble, but in the last few months, I felt that my knee was being stretched a bit beyond its limits. Despite that, I would sit on my leg anyway, and I would completely forget not to do that until I felt a twinge of pain in my knee after awhile. Even with the pain, I forgot repeatedly and did it over and over. That’s simply the way my brain works.

About 4 weeks ago, I noticed that my knee became very tender to the touch. It also felt comfortable each time that I tried to stand for a while or walk even as little as 10 feet. I knew it was getting worse. Since going to the doctor when I tried that, I decided to try a chiropractor. He had answers that my doctor did not have! It was wonderful to listen to his plan to get my knee better. I could tell that he cares. He has been able to fix the issue without any prescriptions.
