I grew up in Connecticut and my daughter told me that she wanted to go to college out of state. I was not sure what to think when she told me that she wanted to go down south for school. I told her that I was happy for her and I would help her get out as much as I could. There was a great person at the admissions office at the university that told us to live off campus to save money. We called ADT in Knoxville to go to her new apartment off campus when she enrolled in school there to make sure that she would be in the safest place available to her. I know that a lot of students chose to live on campus, but because she is an out of state student, it is much cheaper for her to live off of the campus of the university.
There are a lot of students living in her apartment building, but it is so inexpensive that they all have a one bedroom all to themselves. I could not believe how nice and furnished her new apartment was, for half the price of a dorm room. Since there are so many people from the university living in the same building as she does, they usually can be seen walking to and from the campus together. I knew that there was not going to be an adviser at the apartment building like at the dorm, but that was something that I was going to have to live with. She was going to turn 19 shortly after moving to the south and I had to have the confidence in her to know that she was going to be okay in her new home all by herself with the new security system.
